Additionally, a more comprehensive chemical registry is currently under development. In fact, a draft legislation to establish a National Registry of Chemical Substances was recently introduced in the Mexican Federal Congress in February 2026.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Ongoing Obligations<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this new registry moves through the legislative process, businesses must continue to comply with all current legal and regulatory requirements in force today. En total, el\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gpcgateway.com\/regulatory-regions\/mexico\/inventory\/Mjg%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inventario\u00a0<\/a>tiene 5.852 sustancias qu\u00edmicas presentes y se basa en 2009 como a\u00f1o de referencia.  El inventario se caracterizaba m\u00e1s como un cat\u00e1logo, ya que no impon\u00eda ninguna obligaci\u00f3n al mercado nacional, era el paso inicial para que se estableciera un proyecto piloto.<\/p><p>En 2018, la\u00a0<b><strong>Instituto Nacional de Estad\u00edstica y Geograf\u00eda (INEGI)\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>public\u00f3 el\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.snieg.mx\/DocumentacionPortal\/Normatividad\/vigente\/Lineamientos_CNSQ.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Directrices para la utilizaci\u00f3n del Cat\u00e1logo Nacional de Sustancias Qu\u00edmicas con fines estad\u00edsticos y geogr\u00e1ficos<\/a>. El documento ten\u00eda en cuenta la informaci\u00f3n facilitada por la industria qu\u00edmica nacional y los importadores, adem\u00e1s de ser una herramienta de homologaci\u00f3n de las sustancias recogidas hasta el momento.<\/p><p>En diciembre de 2020, la Asociaci\u00f3n Nacional de la Industria Qu\u00edmica (ANIQ)<a href=\"https:\/\/aniq.org.mx\/webpublico\/Notas\/Nota.asp?id=252\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0cambios propuestos en el inventario nacional de sustancias qu\u00edmicas<\/a>que incluye la posibilidad de mejorar la gesti\u00f3n de los productos qu\u00edmicos mediante la evaluaci\u00f3n de la sustancia a lo largo de su ciclo de vida. Seg\u00fan la propuesta de la ANIQ, el inventario sugerido servir\u00eda de base para el futuro avance de la regulaci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica, apoyar\u00eda un mejor proceso de toma de decisiones y contribuir\u00eda a la industria nacional. Se prev\u00e9 que los organismos colaboren para reforzar y agilizar el proceso de aplicaci\u00f3n de la propuesta, presentando un proyecto que no s\u00f3lo controle, sino que tambi\u00e9n promueva y desarrolle la producci\u00f3n de la industria. However, it is important to note that there is currently no single Mexican law called &#8220;Mexico REACH.&#8221; Instead, chemical compliance in Mexico is governed by the existing legal framework and the corresponding technical standards, which are enforced by multiple authorities. In total, the\u00a0inventory\u00a0has 5.852 chemicals present and is based on 2009 as the reference year. \u00a0The inventory was more characterized as a catalog since it did not impose any obligation on the national market, it was the initial step for a pilot project to be established. In 2018, the\u00a0National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI)\u00a0published the\u00a0Guidelines for the use of the National Catalog of Chemical Substances for statistical and geographic purposes. The document considered information provided by the national chemical industry and importers, in addition to being a homologation tool for substances collected so far. In December 2020,\u00a0National Chemical Industry Association (ANIQ)\u00a0proposed changes to the national chemical substance inventory, which includes the possibility to improve the management of chemicals by assessing the substance through its life cycle. According to ANIQ\u2019s proposal, the suggested inventory would serve as a basis for future chemical regulation advancement, support a better decision-making process, and contribute to the national industry. It is predicted that the agencies are working together to strengthen and streamline the proposal implementation process, presenting a project that does not only control but also promotes and develops the industry\u2019s production.
