Le gouvernement local a publié Résolution 192/2019qui a créé une liste nationale des substances chimiques existantes, réglementées et interdites, et qui est continuellement complétée. Cette liste est en constante évolution, Décret 504/2019 a été publié en étroite collaboration, mettant en place un groupe interministériel chargé de coordonner les différents domaines gouvernementaux afin de garantir la gestion nationale des substances chimiques, en respectant les engagements nationaux et internationaux pris.
Le projet de loi sur les produits chimiques nationaux a été présenté au débat public en septembre 2019, juste avant les élections nationales d'octobre. En fin de compte, le changement de gouvernement a affecté les progrès ultérieurs et le projet a été retiré par le pouvoir exécutif argentin. Entre-temps, une version améliorée est prête à être publiée, mais ne sera pas présentée au Congrès puisque les nouvelles élections sont prévues pour octobre 2021.
